Buying Ukrainian car insurance online at any hour
For a car registered in Ukraine, compulsory motor liability (OSCPV, «автоцивілка») and the Green Card can be bought on TEHET online at any hour — at night, at weekends and on public holidays: a quote by plate number, a card payment, and an electronic policy by email, usually within 20 minutes of payment. A whole department is responsible for keeping it running, and an engineer watches the core of the service around the clock. A car on foreign plates is different: a manager arranges it, 07:00–22:00 Kyiv time.

The limits no clock changes
- The earliest start is tomorrow. You can buy at any hour, but cover starts from tomorrow, Kyiv time, at the earliest (Article 11(3) of Law No. 3720-IX). Travelling tomorrow — pay before midnight. When a Green Card starts.
- About 40 minutes around midnight. From 23:30–00:10 Kyiv time the register moves to the new day. Start the application before 23:30.
- The SMS code. It goes to a Ukrainian number; a non-resident who ticks «Я іноземець (нерезидент України)» (I am a foreigner, non-resident) may use a foreign one. The checkout is in Ukrainian only.
Who keeps it running
A whole department at TEHET is responsible for the online checkout working — not one person on a phone in office hours. An on-duty engineer watches the core of the service 24 hours a day, weekends included. Even when no customer is quoting, our server prices a reference Green Card every five minutes, so an outage on the insurers’ side is seen before a person runs into it.
Outages happen, and we do not promise otherwise. The honest version: the checkout works around the clock; if the insurers’ system is temporarily unavailable, we say so on the service status page instead of staying silent — with an incident log from which closed incidents are never removed.
Driving on foreign plates
The calculator does not quote a car registered abroad. A manager asks the insurer for the price and concludes an electronic contract before entry, 07:00–22:00 Kyiv time; at night, leave a request and we will get back to you in the morning. The pages for these drivers, in their language:

Can I buy Ukrainian motor insurance online at night or at the weekend?
Yes, for a car registered in Ukraine. The quote, the checkout, the card payment and the electronic policy by email do not wait for a working day — Saturday, Sunday and public holidays included.
Can the policy start today?
No. The earliest start date is tomorrow, Kyiv time. Cover runs from the day the insurer records the contract in the MTSBU register, after payment (Article 11(3) of Law No. 3720-IX), so pay before midnight if you travel tomorrow.
Why does the checkout pause around midnight?
From 23:30–00:10 Kyiv time the MTSBU register moves to the new day and applications do not go through — about 40 minutes a day. The data is kept and the checkout continues from the same place.
Can a car on foreign plates be insured online at any hour?
No. The calculator does not quote a foreign-registered car; a manager does, 07:00–22:00 Kyiv time. At night, leave a request and we will get back to you in the morning. Write the day before the trip: the policy is needed before entry.
What happens if the insurers' system is down at night?
The calculator says so, shows indicative prices from our last measurement with its date, and asks for a phone or email; we quote as soon as the insurers answer. Whether quoting works right now is shown on the service status page.
